Olivia Gave a Hug Today
Just how much difference can one hug make? Join Olivia the Octopus as she rides the waves into a town devastated by a hurricane. Meeting people without homes and food and the basic necessities of life, she offers hugs and hopes for a new beginning. Olivia Gave a Hug Today was inspired by the events of Hurricane Katrina, and authored by Olivia the Octopus creator, Karen Alexander, and Chapin Furniture owner, Gladys Grimaud. Both were involved in going to the United States Gulf Coast region following the aftermath of Katrina and were forever changed by their encounters there. The book includes a hug log in the appendix, encouraging children to give hugs to those who need them, and record each name in the book.
